Recovery Micro-Grant Program
One of Decency LLC’s longstanding goals has been to launch—when possible—a micro-grant program supporting individuals harmed in the healthcare system.
The purpose of DLLC’s Recovery Micro-Grant program is to provide small grants of up to $50 to individuals recovering from the long-term effects of harmful interventions.
Harmful interventions are defined in this case as any instance where a third party has applied medical or psychological knowledge or techniques to harm the victim, with or without the intent to do so.
These can include, for example but without limitation:
Medical abuse (e.g., factitious disorder imposed on another, “Munchausen syndrome by proxy”);
Misguided treatment based on an incorrect diagnosis;
Violations of medical privacy;
Interventions with harmful side effects;
Forced interventions (i.e., without the patient’s consent);
Harm suffered during research participation, with or without knowledge or consent; or
Sustained efforts to harass, intimidate, or retaliate against a victim.
